[Expo MC Report] Pakistan – Lessons on Cultural Respect and Flexibility

On August 14, I had the honor of serving as the bilingual MC for the Pakistan National Day event held at the Expo 2025 National Day Hall.

The stage came alive with powerful dance performances and a stunning fashion show. One of the highlights was the collection designed by a Japanese designer, featuring innovative and elegant outfits that beautifully combined Pakistani silk with traditional Japanese kimono fabrics. The audience was completely captivated by their beauty and creativity.

During rehearsals, we encountered a moment that reminded me how important it is to understand cultural backgrounds. In Pakistan, showing skin is generally considered inappropriate, so the team decided to make last-minute adjustments—adding inner shirts beneath the costumes. It was a small but meaningful example of cultural sensitivity and adaptability in action.

There were a few unexpected moments during the show, but seeing the designer and Pakistani dignitaries smiling and chatting happily afterward made me feel truly relieved. Large international events often come with tight schedules, limited rehearsal time, and scripts that are finalized just before the performance. Of course, not everything can be controlled by the MC, but I was reminded once again how essential it is for a bilingual MC to remain flexible and calm when plans suddenly change.

International events are where diverse cultures and values intersect. On such stages, the role of an MC extends far beyond simply guiding the program—it’s about fostering understanding and harmony among people from different backgrounds. This experience was another powerful reminder of what it truly means to be an international MC.

If you are looking for a bilingual MC for your international event or National Day celebration, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
